Canadian Experience Class

The Canadian Experience Class was implemented in September 2009, and allows the experience in Canada to be a primary factor for workers and students with professional, managerial and skilled work experience when immigrating to Canada. It is a permanent resident category for workers or graduates with Canadian work experience who are familiar with Canada’s society and job market, have knowledge of English or French and have the skills to make a successful transition to temporary and permanent residence in Canada.

The objectives of the program are for Canada to retain the maximum social, cultural and economic benefits of immigration, to enrich the cultural and social fabric of Canada as well as to help develop a strong and prosperous Canadian economy.

Changes include updates on the requirements of the class, the definition of family members, definition of full-time work experience, changes to the application process and as well as updates to the pass and fail requirements. These changes are in addition to an update made earlier this February to the test score equivalency for the International English Language Testing System and Canadian Language Benchmarks.
