Canada’s business immigration program seeks to promote economic development and employment by attracting people with venture capital and entrepreneurial skills.

Individuals with business/managerial experience having high net worth may apply under one of the following sub-categories:

Investor: An individual can qualify in this category if they have:

    • Successfully operated, controlled or directed a qualifying business; or managed two or more full time employees for two years in last five years.
    • Legally accumulated through its own endeavors a family net worth of at least $1,600,000 (CAD);
    • Invest $800,000 (CAD) for five years with the Department of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Entrepreneur: An individual can qualify in this category if they have:

    • Successfully managed a qualifying business for two years in last five years;
    • Legally accumulated through its own endeavors a family net worth of at least $300,000 (CAD); and
    • Sufficient assets to establish or acquire a qualifying business.

    • An entrepreneur must, within three years of landing, establish a qualifying Canadian business in Canada. The candidate must be active and have perpetual participation in the ongoing management of the business. Also, employment opportunities must be created for at least one Canadian citizen or permanent resident, other than the entrepreneur and/or their dependents. The entrepreneur is required to report the progress to immigration officials on regular basis during this three-year period.
